I call Reiki a first aid kit in your hands, because of what it does for stress and for the kind of settling that lets body, mind and spirit come back into step with each other.
People describe the result in terms of peace, security and wellbeing. You stay fully clothed on the table, and the session runs about an hour.
What the word actually means
Reiki is not a brand or a technique someone invented recently. The name says what it is.
Spirit, or God energy. The larger thing the practitioner is not the source of.
Life force energy. The same idea as chi or prana — the animating energy already in you.
Sessions & the Reiki circle
Most people start by simply having a session. The circle is there when you want to practise with others.

Reiki is not a religion
It is spiritual in nature, but it has no dogma and asks you to believe nothing. People of every faith and none practise it.
What this is, and is not
A complementary service for relaxation and personal development. Not medical or psychological treatment, and not a substitute for care from a licensed clinician.
Results vary from person to person. Nothing here is a promise of a specific outcome.

The certification path, in order
I trained in Reiki in 1997 and have taught it ever since. Each level builds on the one before it, and you can stop at any point — plenty of people learn Level I purely for themselves and their family.

Classes run as scheduling allows rather than on a fixed calendar, so get in touch and I will let you know what is coming up. If you have trained elsewhere and want to continue here, say so and we will work out where you are starting from.
